Age versus Experience
As far as school leadership is concerned, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough – or are you? Is something simple and arguably completely out of your control as the number of trips you’ve made around the sun likely to have an impact on your life and work at school? Can you still be at the top of your school leadership game when you’re still close to the bottom end of the age range of those typically appointed to school leadership positions?
Writing a school improvement plan: three golden rules
As a Head, I lead on pulling together my own school’s development plan. As a Governor in a couple of other schools, alongside my Governor colleagues, I’m required to scrutinise and challenge development plans produced by others. Over the years I’ve either written or seen quite a few.
